Project objective
Manual weeding can be replaced by automated, herbicide-free weed control.
In the JaetRobi project, researchers and industry partners are working to develop a practical, cost-effective solution for automated, herbicide-free weed control in vegetable crops. They are creating modules that can be mounted on various carrier vehicles and that can both detect weeds and remove them selectively from among the crops in a single pass.
The main objectives of the JaetRobi project are:
- universally applicable weed detection through the use of new machine learning systems and the creation of an open-source image database that enables the systems to be trained for various scenarios;
- improving the stability and efficiency of the tools by optimizing their design and control systems.
By the end of the three-year project, a working prototype for automated weed control in vegetable crops grown from seed is expected to be available. This practical approach aims to provide farmers with practical solutions through the exchange of knowledge and field data.
